Week 28: Finally, Friday!!

According to someone’s calendar and such, Spring arrived this week. I have never been more excited for Spring’s arrival. EVER. I welcome the thawing out of the environment and time spent outdoors without fear of frostbite. Seriously. As someone who is new to “winter”, I kid you not, every time I stepped out in the cold without gloves, I was afraid, my fingers were gonna fall off.

Anyways, it has been a crazy week at work and at home, and since the weather has become bearable, I have also started running again, so as to not pass out at the half-marathon that I have decided to run in less than a month. So, this also means less time at the park with the girls 😦

The girls were on their Spring Break this week and with all of the busy-ness around here, I did not adequately plan any activities or our annual trip. The trip is scheduled later on in April. Time and I are just not vibing right now. I hope to catch up soon. Also, apologies for missing last week’s post. My phone decided to eat ALL of my photos and now they have all gone to picture heaven. And what’s a Friday post without photos? LAME.

As such, there is not much to highlight this week. Despite all of the busy-ness, I have been getting to hang out with the family a little more. While out window shopping this week, I found out that Jaelan LOVES to try on ridiculously high-heels and walk around in them in the shoe stores. We spent like 20 minutes letting her do this. I want that 20 minutes of my life back. Just kidding. She had a blast and I thought it was weird, because I hate high heels. She even tried on lots of what my sister, Paris and I call, “what the fcuk heels”. These are slightly taller than regular heels, but not quite hooker heels. YEAH.

On the Aspen front, we have not been on the same page at all in the past two weeks, she hates me and wants nothing to do with me. Everything is my daddy this and my daddy that. WHATEVER. Go feed yourself. Just Kidding. Honestly, I don’t know where the animosity from here is coming from, I blame it on toddlerhood and the fact that she sees her dad more during the day. Anyway, I end up being all accommodating and non-disciplinarian when she does come around me. This is not working out well, as she now thinks that is the boss when I am around, and she tells me things like, “no” and “I don’t want to”, when I tell her to do things. And as is such, she has become pretty unbearable when in public without her dad. Not sure how or if I am going to address this issue, but it needs to rectify itself quickly. I don’t remember toddlerhood being this challenging with Jaelan and Xavi. SIGH.

Week 20: Finally, Friday!!

Happy Friday!! Another week gone by and another week older! HA!

Week 20 Highlights:

This week, we had Jaelan’s middle school tour and enrollment meeting. MIDDLE SCHOOL. My big girl will be in 7th grade next semester, I am getting OLD or WISER! 🙂 I still can’t believe it! She was so excited! What was she excited about? LOCKERS! She is excited to get a locker next year and psyched that the school has 3 floors. She is afraid she will get lost. I laughed.

She sang a song about Pokemon. It goes something like this (Tune of Milkshake by Kelis, yes, that Milkshake)

“My Pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard,

and they’re like, do you wanna trade cards,

dang right, I want your Charizard…”

Minor victory this week: One week with big girl panties(no pull-up) to bed and one week of waking up dry. I now consider her potty trained, so if she has an accident, she will be reprimanded.

An Aspen and Jaelan indoor activity: A dancing app on Jaelan’s iPad:

Have an AWESOME weekend!! 🙂

Week 19: Finally, Friday!!

Happy Friday!! This week was not as brutal weather wise, so we got to step out a couple of days during the week! YAY!

Week 19 Highlights:

With the temperature highs in the 30s and 40s, we were able to step out to a couple of park and scooter days this week. YAY. You learn to appreciate these days when you are not used to being indoors for so long, like 3-4 days in a row, because of polar vortex weather and real winters. Brutal, I tell you.

Xavi joined the Scrabble club at school, so we decided to make her awesome by having scrabble days at home, as an indoor activity. I am working on this.

Xavi asked to have a section of her own on the blog. She is a little envious that Jaelan has the book worm section. So, a Xavi section on the blog is forth coming, as soon as I figure out what it will be.

With extended Dora the Explorer time at home, due to no more day care, Aspen now counts better in Spanish than in English and Tagalog. SIGH. This needs to be fixed.

Aspen went roller skating for the first time this week. Indoor activity. It went well.

Because Xavier spends more day time with her now, Aspen has decided that I am no longer awesome and everything is all about Daddo. Yes, Daddo.

Aspen: Daddo is my best friend. Not you, Janis!

The End.

As previously stated, I need to figure out more awesome indoor activities, so if you have any awesome suggestions, please share.

Week 14: Finally, Friday!!

I know, it’s Saturday, again. It was a very tiring and trying week. There were three concerts this week, twice in one night, a delirious, sick, demanding toddler for three days, busy work week, and no posts at all during the week, so bad blogger! But, and this is a big but, we are two weeks away from Christmas 🙂 JOY.

Week 14 Highlights:

Jaelan and Xavi had a lot of activities this week. Well, mostly Jaelan. On Tuesday, Xavi had her recorder concert. YES. You remember those recorders that they used to give you in elementary school? Well, here, they have concerts for them. And it was different. After the kids performed, which was pretty good might I add. The kids passed out (clean)recorders to the audience(Eww.) and taught us a few cords, ending with the audience playing the first 3 songs that the kids played. The audience did well. I thought it was gross, so I didn’t participate. Are you kidding me? Jaelan had math competitions on Wednesday and school choir concert and honor choir concert on the same day on Thursday. The honor choir was with one of the local high school’s annual Winter Concerts, so it was a large audience performance. They take their fine arts seriously around here. Jaelan was so happy and the kids did well, they fit right in with the high school performers. I was all music out by the end of it all.

Conversation with Jaelan:

Me: Zay, have you heard the new R. Kelly album?

Jaelan: R. Kelly is famous because he is a pimp.

Me: What? How do you know he is a pimp?

Jaelan: He is a pimp because he wears a furry coat, a pimp hat, alligator shoes, and he has lots of money.

I like her definition of a pimp. Innocence, I hope she keeps it a while. Plus, it was funny.

I don’t have 2 words for how terrible this kid is when she is pretty sick. Ok, maybe: demanding and outrageous. She was sick from Wednesday to still pending. But, and this is a big but, she is officially potty trained.

Aspen: Janis Mama, I need to potty.

Me: Ok, let’s go. Do you need to pee-pee or poop?

Aspen: I gotta take a shit.
